Welcome those who are receiving their first issue of the BBC (Big Blue Club) Update. The BBC Update is a two-way communication venture between Utah State University’s Athletics Department and Aggie fans everywhere, geared specifically to enhance dialogue between the two entities. The BBC Update is disseminated via e-mail and we encourage each of you to forward e-mail addresses of those individuals you believe would enjoy receiving this weekly letter. This is not a venture to duplicate the efforts of Aggie Media Relations; however, it is a medium to increase awareness about Aggie Athletics that reaches beyond geographic boundaries. Furthermore, it is not necessary to be a member of the BBC to receive the Update. NOW SERVING 542 A special welcome to those from Southern California who are receiving their first issue of the BBC Update BBC ST. GEORGE GOLF TOURNAMENT The BBC Golf Classic scheduled for March 10 in St. George at Sunbrook Golf Course is still looking for a few more teams. Please call Heidi at (435) 797-BLUE (2583) to sign a team up. CS NORTHRIDGE GAME When USU hosts CS Northridge in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Thursday, March 6, please note that tip-off will be at 6:35 PM due to the television coverage of FOX Sports West 2. Fox Sports Rocky Mountain will carry the game in Utah. AGGIE AUCTION A reminder that the annual 2003 Aggie Auction is scheduled for May 17, in the Taggart Student Center. Those wishing to help with this year’s auction, or to offer items for the auction, please call (435) 797-2583 for more information. KEVIN CURTIS AT THE NFL COMBINE USU’s recording setting receiver, Kevin Curtis, appears to have made some noise at the NFL Combine last week. An Aggie fan sent me the following quote from ESPN’s NFL analyst, Len Pasquarelli, on Kevin and asked me to share it. “There were some very good 40-yard times posted by wide receivers on Sunday but no one hit the kind of daily double that Kevin Curtis of Utah State did. One of the fastest-rising players in the off-season, Curtis clocked a time between 4.38-4.40. But get this: He also scored a 48 on the 50-question Wonderlic test, the psychological profile battery administered to players. That could be the second-best score ever. Former Cincinnati punter Pat McInally, a Harvard man, is believed to be the only player to ever record a perfect 50 on the test.” You can read the text of Pasquarelli’s full report at http://espn.go.com/nfl/columns/pasquarelli_len/1513355.html PHIL OLSEN ON HALL OF FAME BALLOT Former Aggie great, Phil Olsen, has just been put on the ballot for the 2003 National Collegiate Football Hall of Fame. The former Aggie All-American’s name was submitted for the ballot through a combined effort of USU athletics and the Utah’s chapter of the National Collegiate Football Hall of Fame and now national panel of voters will decide if Phil is one of the 2003 inductees. GYMNASTICS MEET TIME CHANGE The start time for the gymnastics meet against Ohio State has been changed to 11:00 AM this Friday, February 28, due to the Jamie O’Neal and Billy Dean concert later that evening in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. WE’RE #1 Utah State University put in the largest requests for tickets to the 2003 Big West Basketball Tournament in Anaheim, CA on March 13-15, and consequently will receive a block of tickets for the best seats in the house. The Aggie ticket allotment is due to arrive any day and the ticket office will mail out the tickets as soon as they receive them.
