Mark Brown had 18 points and six assists as Utah State defeated Drake 73-61 Friday night at the round-robin Hilo Shootout.
Brown sank all eight of his free throws as the Aggies (4-0) went 19-of-21 from the foul line. The Bulldogs (2-2) missed only five of their 23 free throws.
The game remained close into the second half until Spencer Nelson hit a jumper and Brown made a 3-pointer to give Utah State a six-point lead.
The Aggies later went on a five-point run to build a 67-57 lead and held on for the victory.
Utah State was 25-of-49 from the field for the game, while Drake was 19-of-41.
Cardell Butler added 12 for Utah State.
J.J. Sola led Drake with 17 points, while Greg Danielson added 14.
