BBC MATCHING FUNDS
For many of you, doubling your donation to the Big Blue Club may be as easy
as a visit to your employer’s Human Resource Department. Many employers have a
policy to match their employees’ gifts to charitable entities and all you need
to do is fill out a form for a matched gift. Your effort to inquire with your
current employer regarding a matching gift could net a sizeable increase in your
donation. If you would like more information, please contact me at beazerk@cc.usu.edu.
CURRENT BBC MEMBERSHIP OUTSIDE CACHE VALLEY
Several have inquired about updated numbers for BBC members outside of the
Cache Valley. Following is a list of the five major counties along the Wasatch
Front with the respective membership numbers from 2002 and 2001.
County 2002 2001
Box Elder 36 34
Weber 17 7
Davis 46 48
SLC 42 68
Utah 6 8
Total 147 166
FOOTBALL GATHERING IN LAYTON
If you have yet to do so, mark your calendars for the evening of Wednesday,
July 31, for the football kick off BBQ/dinner to be held in Layton. Mick
Dennehy has committed to be there to field questions about the upcoming season.
The event is being arranged by several Aggies in the Layton area and more
details will be forwarded when they become available.
NO FOOTBALL GATHERING IN OGDEN FOR 2002
In the last BBC Update I inquired about interest in a preseason football
gathering to be held in the Ogden area. Due to the close proximity of the
scheduled event in Layton on July 31, many felt it would be best not to hold two
similar events so close together; therefore, there will not be a preseason
football gathering in Ogden this year. However, this does not preclude us from
doing something of a similar nature in the near future in Weber County. Once
again, we encourage suggestions to sponsor Aggie events along the Wasatch Front.
FOOTBALL SINGLE-GAME TICKETS
Single-game tickets for 2002 football season will go on sale August 12.
This will be the first date that individuals can cherry-pick games to
attend. Obviously, the Athletics Department is making a push to sell out the
reserved seating on the west side of Romney Stadium before it can be infiltrated
by our opponents’ fans.
UTAH STARZZ AND USU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
All BBC members north of Utah County should have already received in the
mail an invitation to “A Night With The Starzz” on August 9, 2002. The
event will feature a pre-game banquet with former Starzz players and Utah State
University’s head women’s basketball coach, Raegan Scott-Pebley, followed by the
Utah Starzz hosting defending WNBA Champion, Los Angeles Sparks. Cost for the
event is $30 and seating is limited. Call Heidi at 435-797-2583 for more
information.
NEBRASKA TICKETS
USU’s Ticket Office has yet to receive the tickets for the Nebraska game.
Nebraska has indicated that we can expect the tickets to arrive in late July or
early August. Those who have purchased tickets can expect to receive them in
the mail shortly after the Athletics Department receives them. As a point of
interest, nearly 700 tickets for the Nebraska game have been purchased through
USU’s Ticket Office.
CURRENT SEASON TICKET SALES
Several have inquired about the current status of season ticket sales for
the upcoming football season. Season ticket sales to date are slightly ahead of
last year’s pace, with the majority of the outstanding renewals being in the
“general admission” sections. Priority Seating sales are going well and the
push now is for group sales.
SEASON TICKETS ON-LINE
Starting today, football season tickets can be purchased on line.
