USU star is on top team for transfers

Penigar gets his dues.

LOGAN — College Insider.com announced today that Utah State's Desmond Penigar was named to the 2002 National All-Junior College Transfer Team as voted on by a panel of NCAA Division I head coaches. Penigar finished the 2001-02 regular season by leading Utah State to a 21-6 record and a 13-5 mark in the Big West Conference, finishing in a tie for first place with UC Irvine. He led USU in scoring (17.1) and rebounding (7.1) during the year and finished second in the league in scoring and sixth in rebounding. Penigar also ranked in the top 10 in the conference in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and blocked shots. Penigar was one of 16 players named to the All-Junior College Transfer Team. Also named were Marcus Banks of UNLV and Donta Richardson of Wyoming.
