Aggies Get REVENGE vs Cal Poly

Revenge is sweet. Back on 3, January 2002 (a day of infamy in USU Basketball) The Cal Poly Mustangs beat the Aggies for the first time ever, and for their first Big West Basketball win vs USU. But what a difference a month makes as the Aggies “Pound Poly” Saturday night in the Spectrum, 85-53 and moved into second place all alone in the conference. USU is now 16-4, 8-3 and trailing only Cal Irvine, where the Aggies play next Saturday. Cal Poly fell to 12-7, 6-5.

The Ags took a modest 43-35 half time lead to the locker room, only to come out and erupt for 42 more points, while holing the Mustangs to a dismal 18 points. USU shot 67 percent and had a 20-12 rebound margin the first half. USU’s Tony Brown said the Ags reminded themselves of CP's halftime comments a month ago and made a 15-2 run for a 21-point lead to start the second half, then "put the hammer down," said Brown, following a mid-half time-out to lead by as many as 34.
