Ken Beazer's BBC Update
By
Ken Beazer
Posted May 8, 2003
Ken Beazer brings us his weekly Big Blue Club update.
Welcome those who are receiving their first issue of the BBC (Big Blue Club) Update. The BBC Update is a two-way communication venture between
Utah State
University’s Athletics Department and Aggie fans everywhere, geared specifically to enhance dialogue between the two entities. The BBC Update is disseminated via e-mail and we encourage each of you to forward e-mail addresses of those individuals you believe would enjoy receiving this weekly letter. This medium reaches beyond geographic boundaries to increase awareness about Aggie Athletics and keep fans informed on the various programs and issues surrounding USU Athletics.
WEATHERBIE LANDS AT ULM
Former Aggie Head Football Coach, Charlie Weatherbie, has been named the new head football coach at Louisiana-Monroe. Weatherbie began his three year reign over the Aggie football program in 1992 and left after the 1994 season to accept the head coaching position at the Naval Academy. During his tenure at USU, Weatherbie compiled a 15-19 overall record, including a 42-33 victory over
Ball State
in the Las Vegas Bowl in 1993.
IRONY
As fate or irony would have it, the 10 year reunion of USU’s 1993 Las Vegas Bowl team is scheduled for September 27, 2003 when the Aggies commence their Sun Belt Conference schedule against you guessed it Louisiana-Monroe. No word from Coach Weatherbie on whether he will be able to make the weekend festivities.

2003 AGGIE AUCTION
Final preparations are in progress for the 2003 Aggie Auction on May 17. The annual auction is always one of the best events of the year and helps raise money for USU’s Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund. Call Heidi at (435) 797-2583 to reserve for table for the event.
BBC BOARD MEETING RECAP
Randy Robins was elected as the 2nd Vice President for the BBC Board of Directors during last night’s monthly meeting. Robins will join Gary Stevens (1st VP) and Dan Cox (President) on the Board’s Executive Committee for the 2003-04 season. James Wyatt will finish his tenure as BBC President this June, having served admirably over the past year. The Board also welcomed Donna Bergener as the newest Board member. She joins Del Ray Purser, Mike Child and Steve Edwards as new members added to the Board in the past few months.
